Short Afternoon Journey, By Rahadyan Amandita, and Eko Bagus Satrio heavily arranges footage of a foreign city in a montage like manner
and with the use of digital effects heightens the atmosphere of the area. As its name states it creates a sense of adventure for the viewer
through movement as we are exposed to a variety of locations that display not only the beauty but the flaws of this populated area as well.
What attracted my attention specifically to this video was the alteration of the color for this video, the artists seemed to have diminished or
washed out the color in this video thus diminishing the intensity and altering the atmosphere of the video to more of a foreboding or dangerous
area.
KABUR By Hafiz Razak uses performance art by the artist and sound design which accommodates to the mood and atmosphere of the of the video.
As shown in the video we are given a first person view of an individual looking for a pair of glasses as he possess terrible eye sight, through the artist's performance
as well movement and alteration of the clips sharpness the viewer feels as though they are truly stumbling about attempting to find some form of aid in allowing us to
take in the world around us. What attracted my attention to this video was the contrast between the characters perspective on life prior to obtaining his/her's glasses
which is entirely in black and white, upon obtaining and wearing the glasses the artist is exposed to various colors which gives new meaning and atmosphere to the
world around him instead of a bleak and depressing world devoid of color. The music also goes along with the clip perfectly almost as if it was designed for use with
this single clip only.
Seven Lions, Fractals by Tim Burton (No relation to the film director) is a glitch experimental video which uses rhythm with various shapes and colors which creates a sense
of movement and progression onto something intriguing to the eye. The various colors create a calming, soothing atmosphere due to the wide array of colors and slow liquid
like movement. This atmosphere is then broken by a foreign entity which acts as a form of contrast in comparison to the original tone and mood of the video prior, given the
rapid and differing movement of the animal. As stated prior what usually attracts me to these types of videos is the music track for the video as it seems as though the sound
and video were designed for each other.
Fearawfearawfear by Eidoxis uses pre generated media and through alteration of the media's position it appears as though this object is moving.
The dark and strange color pattern creates a some what edgy, uneasy feeling the slow movement however is somewhat memorizing and when all of these elements are combined with the strange music track the atmosphere becomes more hypnotic and rather creepy. The various shapes and holes in this video give the viewer only a mere glimpse as to what the background truly is, thus also building upon the creepy atmosphere and introducing a mysterious element in as well. What attracted my interest towards this video was how different in comparison it was to the previously posted video's.
Dream by Filmmaker419 is an experimental film which depicts the progression from what seems like a normal average scenario to an abstract dream like setting. The music fits perfectly with the overall theme of this video, the track is whimsical and slow paced which aids the dream like atmosphere that this video is attempting to establish. Movement is altered and manipulated which once again appeals to the fictional, abstract setting. What attracted my interest to this video was as stated prior the atmosphere and setting, how potent this video is with its dream like aura which leaves the viewer questioning what will happen next?
Moon is an experimental video created by user WriScriSeanThorn with the aid of Adobe Photoshop and digital media effects. This video depicts an image being altered slightly through photoshop, as the video progresses we that some type of generated media begins to play over the stand alone image which based off of appearance appears to be snow. This introduction of this media is very subtle as it blends in nearly perfectly with the images background, as the video progresses the intensity of this moving media increases to where it feels as though a storm is brewing in this environment.
